No matter what industry one wants to ultimately get a job and succeed in, starting off as an intern is often a great way forward. Without experience in one’s chosen field, it is virtually impossible to get a job. One is often mistaken into thinking that since they have studied a certain area and have the qualifications in the field, they will be able to walk into a job. But this is not the case. Many companies require experience and that is exactly what taking on an internship gives the person looking for a job.

Once one has held an internship position for a while and has a good reference from the company, they have more to offer a potential employer. They have not just studied the subject – they have worked in the industry. As well, if they have done well at their internship position, they may even be offered a full-time position there. Or, if there is not a position available at the time, when one does come up, the employer may contact the person who already knows a bit about the company from their internship and offer them a full-time position.

Becoming a savvy intern is thus well-advised for someone new to their industry who wants to gain experience in the field and ultimately succeed in it.
